Round Soapstone Holder Set — 2 Holders & 14 Round Soapstone Refills
Product description
Designed for creating removable layout lines, these round soapstone holders are made to serve welders, fabricators and contractors. Each kit contains two round holders and a total of 14 round soapstone refills, with one refill already installed in each holder so they’re ready to use out of the box.
The holders are machined from high-grade aluminum for strength and corrosion resistance while remaining lightweight enough to slip into a shirt pocket. A tightened end collar secures the soapstone in place; the cap twists to clamp the stone so you can apply marking pressure without it moving.
The round soapstone refills are intended for marking ferrous and non-ferrous metals — steel, iron and aluminum — producing clear, temporary lines that are easy to remove or brush off after work. Use them for welding layout, cutting guides, and general metal fabrication marking where precise, removable marks are required.
Pros
- Durable aluminum holders
- Includes 14 round soapstone refills
- Produces clear, removable marks on metal
Cons
- Clamping mechanism can feel loose on some units
- A few refills may arrive fractured in packaging
- Threads and tightening collar could be machined more precisely
VerdictA practical marking kit for metalwork: lightweight, durable aluminum holders with a tightened end collar and a stash of round soapstone refills. Excellent for steel, iron and aluminum where removable, visible lines are needed. Some users report the clamp can be improved for a firmer grip, but overall it delivers consistent marks, is easy to carry on the job, and comes with enough refills to keep y

Performs better than expected
Seems like a solid tool for the use. I didn’t expect much but it works as well as similar brands. No issues so far.

Does the job
Marks well and is affordable. A couple of the soapstones arrived broken, but they’re still usable.

Good idea, one pin faulty
All refill stones arrived intact, but one of the pins was crossthreaded and unusable.

Slippage issue — here's the fix
The soapstone kept slipping with pressure. I tried smoothing the thread and widening the slots between the clamping fingers without success. Removing the cap and clamping by hand stopped the slip until tip pressure was applied. Bending the four clamping fingers slightly outward increased contact area and stopped the slippage.

Serviceable but lock needs work
The locking system isn’t as secure as it should be; could use a stronger clamp.

Sturdy, well made
Solid build and perfect for marking steel or aluminium. Compact enough for a shirt pocket and arrived quickly.

I use it more than I thought I would
This soapstone holder quickly became a go-to. The metal clasp sticks to a magnet by my machine and the soapstone stays usable without frequent extension. The stone sits a touch loose, so tighten the cap before applying pressure. I also used the stone to ease some old threads on a machine — a handy dry lubricant. The holder is stout, though the thread milling and tightening action could be improved. Overall excellent value; I’d buy it again.

Sharp, clean lines on canvas
Great marker that won’t snap easily and sharpens well with a construction-style sharpener. Leaves a crisp line on Sunbrella that cleans off with Tuff Stuff. Won’t mark PVC-coated reinforcement and the dust can reduce double-sided tape stickiness, but it saves time by avoiding constant resharpening.
