Handcrafted Ceramic Nest Eggs (Brown) — 4-Pack
Product description
Made in the USA and handcrafted from ceramic, this 4-pack of brown nest eggs is produced to look and feel like genuine chicken eggs. Each piece is finished with a matte, egg-like surface and is sized to approximate a standard chicken egg so hens accept them in nesting boxes.
Included: four brown ceramic eggs. Material: ceramic with an egg-appropriate finish. Size: roughly equivalent to a typical large chicken egg in both dimensions and heft, so birds treat them as real when teaching nest preferences or assessing broody behavior.
Uses: place one or more eggs in a chosen nesting box to encourage hens to lay there (nest box training); leave eggs in nests to discourage egg pecking and cannibalism; use them to test which hens become broody by seeing who settles on them; or arrange them in a bowl or display for rustic indoor or porch décor. They’re easy to wipe clean and move between boxes as needed.
Pros
- Realistic size, weight, and finish
- Versatile: training, deterrent, broodiness check, décor
- Handcrafted and durable ceramic construction
Cons
- May fool people collecting eggs — mark them if needed
- Not guaranteed to stop all pecking or predators
- Ceramic can break if dropped
VerdictThese ceramic nest eggs are a practical, attractive tool for backyard poultry keepers. Built to resemble actual eggs in size, weight and finish, the four-piece set helps train hens to a preferred nest, can reduce egg-pecking behavior, and serves as a simple way to assess broodiness. They’re also decorative enough for country-style displays. While not foolproof for every flock or predator, they’re

Works for teaching layers
Helped train young hens where to lay and reduced pecking once they settled into the boxes.

Even saved some eggs from snakes
Placed these in nests and they protected a few real eggs by confusing snakes. Note: one snake still got a couple of eggs though.

Almost indistinguishable
So convincing that family members picked them up thinking they were real. I’d recommend marking them if you want to avoid confusion.

So realistic!
They’re mistaken for real eggs around the house because of how true-to-life they look. They do the job.

Well made and effective
Good quality ceramic. They even fooled a thief who took one and never returned. Look convincing and hold up well.

These ceramic eggs really made a difference. They match real eggs in feel and helped direct our hens to the proper nest boxes. Sturdy and simple to clean — a useful tool for any small flock.

From messy to orderly
After adding these to the nests, hens returned to laying where I wanted — much less hunting for eggs around the yard.

They do the job
Look and feel authentic. Putting a few in each box ended the egg-eating in our coop.

Solved our egg-pecking issue
Placed a couple in each nest and the pecking stopped. The brown tone matches our hens’ eggs well.

Good product, not a cure-all
Solid construction, but in my flock they didn’t completely stop hens from pecking. Still a useful item though.

Great for feral hen training
Rescued hens that laid everywhere started using the nesting boxes after a couple days with these eggs. They began going in on their own quickly.

fooled the ravens — very lifelike
Bought to deter ravens from my coop; the ceramic eggs are heavy and color-accurate. Ravens stole three of four, so they clearly buy the illusion.
