Plug-In 62-Mile Livestock Electric Fence Energizer — 6.5 Joules
Product description
Overview
This 110V plug-in electric fence energizer stores 6.5 joules and can produce up to 3.5 joules of output energy, capable of driving as much as 62 miles of fencing under ideal conditions. The low-impedance pulse design forces a stronger shock through a loaded fence, making it suitable for long runs and for deterring a variety of animals.
What’s included and compatibility
The product package contains the energizer unit itself with a molded top handle, LED indicator panel and a rear mounting hole for wall or post attachment. It works with standard electric fence conductors: wire, braid, tape and vinyl, and is intended for use with livestock such as cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs and poultry. It’s also effective at discouraging wildlife like deer, raccoons, rabbits and other unwanted animals when properly installed.
Construction and protections
The housing is shock-resistant and treated to resist rust and corrosion. The unit carries an IP54 ingress-resistance rating for protection against dust and splashing water, and includes built-in lightning and high-voltage surge protection circuits to help safeguard the electronics.
Controls, indicators and installation
A single rear mounting hole simplifies attachment while the molded top handle makes temporary repositioning easier. Six LED lights provide a visual readout of fence voltage performance, plus a separate power LED indicates mains power. A complete and correctly installed grounding system is required for the energizer to deliver proper fence voltage; grounding must be completed before powering the unit. Because it is not fully weatherproof, install the charger in a covered location or inside a ventilated, weatherproof box to protect it from direct exposure.
Warranty and notes
The unit is sold with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects. For best long-term performance, keep the unit sheltered from direct rain and improve reliability by ensuring good grounding and periodic inspections of connections and fence continuity.
Pros
- High output to cover long fence runs

- Robust housing with lightning and surge protection
Cons
- Not fully waterproof — needs a sheltered installation
- Mixed reports on warranty and post-sale support
- May be more power than needed for small, close-in setups
VerdictThis plug-in energizer is built to drive long fence runs and deliver strong, low-impedance pulses for livestock containment and predator control. Its 110V operation removes the need for a battery or solar panel and the unit includes LED voltage indicators, a top handle and a rear mounting hole for quick installation. Strong performance
Nice and powerful; does the job.

Only lasted a couple months
Set it up in the summer and it worked initially but quit after about two months.

Much stronger spark after upgrade
Switched from a low-output charger after weak spark tests. Voltage jumped from about 5.5 kV to nearly 10 kV on my tester and the spark was much clearer. Still performing well after a couple weeks.

Great until it failed — warranty issues
Unit worked well for several months but failed after seven months. I contacted the maker for a warranty claim and received slow, vague responses. If long-term support matters, be cautious.

Stopped working after one week
Installed per instructions and it ran fine for a week. Later, with power light on, there were no voltage LEDs, no clicking and zero output on my meter. Too late to return and now unusable.

Delivered a sharp deterrent to aggressive dogs
Neighbor dogs chewed our privacy fence and our large bully was being provoked. I ran a 90-foot line with insulators and proper grounding in about two hours. After one shock the troublesome dogs backed off and we’ve had calm since.

Plenty of power, keep it dry
Has a lot more oomph than my old unit — it left a small welt on my son testing it. Not rated for direct exposure, so I keep it under a bucket/cover. So far it’s been working well.

Stopped a fence-pushing mare
One horse kept leaning and knocking lines down despite two fencers before. After installing this energizer she won't approach the fence and it has kept deer away too. Saves a lot of daily repairs.

Very effective for mammals, not for turkeys
Easy to set up and packs a punch for four-legged animals. Wild turkeys walked through unaffected because their feathers insulate them, even though the fence will spark noticeably. LED indicators are handy.
