Goat-Hair Vinyl Record Cleaning Brush with Walnut Handle
Product description
What you get: a single GrooveWasher GOAT brush engineered for record maintenance. The tool is built around two parallel rows of natural goat hair bristles set into a solid walnut block that carries an etched GrooveWasher logo.
Materials & dimensions: the bristles are soft, natural goat hair designed to contact vinyl gently. The handle is carved from walnut for durability and comfortable handling. The brush measures approximately 5.375 inches long, 0.625 inches tall, and 1.5 inches deep—dimensions chosen to fit the LP surface for effective coverage across the grooves.
How it's used: the brush was designed for both wet and dry methods. Use it dry to sweep away loose dust and reduce static before playback. Use it wet to distribute record-cleaning fluid across the grooves and help draw cleaning agents into the record surface. Its size lets it span a full LP groove area for efficient passes.
Origin: designed and manufactured by GrooveWasher in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
Pros
- Soft natural goat hair reaches into grooves
- Sturdy walnut handle with comfortable grip
- Designed for both wet and dry cleaning
Cons
- May shed a few hairs initially
- No included protective storage case
- Wider profile can make wet spreading messy for some
VerdictA well-built, versatile brush for vinyl care. The double rows of soft goat hair reach into grooves without being abrasive, while the walnut handle gives a secure grip. It performs well for both dry pre-play dusting and for spreading cleaning solution, though some users report initial shedding and wish a storage case were included. Simple and effective
Exactly as advertised. No problems encountered.

Surprisingly effective and full-size
Performs better than I expected because it's larger than I thought—wide enough to cover the grooves of a 33⅓ LP in a single sweep. I use it wet to spread cleaner and it feels just right: not too stiff or too floppy for scrubbing into grooves. It lost a couple hairs on the first use but hasn't since. Recommended for wet cleaning.

Does the job reliably
High-quality build. Removes dust from grooves well. I purchased two—one dedicated for dry dusting and the other for applying cleaning fluid—and they work exactly as intended.

Good dust brush; would like a case
Lifts dust from records well and doesn’t add static. Bristles get down into grooves effectively. Feels well made and durable, but I wish it came with a storage cover.

Washed and held up well
I use it dry before playback instead of a carbon-fiber brush. I washed the goat hair first and brushed hard to remove loose strands—no shedding after heavy use for a week. Soft enough to avoid scratches but stiff enough to remove light dust. Excellent value and quality.

Nice feel but not as concentrated
Looks and feels great, but I don’t think it covers as uniformly as my VPI brush. I use it as a rinse brush for wet cleans, but the bristles lack the compact stiffness I prefer.

Best used dry; wide for wet work
Bought for wet cleaning but found the width makes spreading solution awkward—it can reach the label or drip off. Goat hair gets a bit musty when wet. Now I use it for dry pre-play brushing and prefer it to my old carbon-fiber brush. Shed a few hairs at first but stopped after a short time.

Too large for smaller areas
The brush is oversized for the playable area on some records and can be awkward on smaller surfaces.

Works as expected
Very good brush. The goat hair reaches into the grooves nicely. I pair it with my record cleaner and it performs well.

Excellent for routine dry cleaning
Impressed with how soft the bristles are yet still effective at lifting dust without scratching. Comfortable to hold and has reduced static on my records. Great for pre-play cleaning.

Solid, attractive cleaning tool
Cleans records efficiently. Bristles are soft yet firm enough to reach into grooves. The wooden handle looks sturdy and smart on the shelf.

Gentle on vinyl and reduces static
Switched from a carbon-fiber brush and like this goat-hair version better. It feels softer and doesn’t leave tiny fiber bits behind. The bristles are delicate but effective; just skim the surface so they don't bend. Also helps cut static. My only gripe is no storage case included.
