Portable AM/FM/SW Radio — Battery or Plug-In Tunable Receiver
Product description
Big speaker for clear, room-filling audio: This portable radio is built around a high-performance speaker that produces loud, clear sound suitable for music, news, sports, and talk programs. The driver is sized to deliver fuller midrange and treble clarity so the radio can easily fill a small room.
Robust reception with adjustable tone: A metal telescoping antenna and a long-range transistor front end pull in AM, FM, and SW signals with good sensitivity. A high/low tone control lets you shape the sound, and a 3.5mm earphone jack lets you listen privately without disturbing others.
Easy analog controls: The housing features a large, smooth volume knob and a substantial tuning wheel for classic, tactile tuning. The analog dial is simple to read and operate, making it a comfortable choice for seniors or anyone who prefers straightforward physical controls.
Backlit LCD clock: A bright digital display shows the current time and the tuned frequency; a selectable 12- or 24-hour time format is available. The display backlight improves readability in dim rooms or at night so you can check the clock and station without guessing.
Dual power options for home and outdoor use: The radio runs on an included AC adapter for continuous indoor use, or on four AA alkaline batteries (not included) for portable listening while camping, gardening, walking, or during power outages. This flexibility keeps you connected when mains power isn’t available.
What’s in the box and construction: The kit includes the radio, an AC adapter for plug-in use, and a user manual. The cabinet is molded ABS plastic with rubberized knobs, a metal telescoping antenna, and a front-mounted speaker grille. Approximate size is a compact footprint suitable for countertops and nightstands, making it an easy companion at home or on the go.
Pros
- Clear, room-filling audio from a large speaker
- Dual power: AC adapter or 4×AA batteries
- Simple, tactile analog controls and backlit clock
Cons

VerdictThis compact receiver delivers surprisingly full sound and dependable AM, FM, and SW reception thanks to its sizable speaker and telescoping antenna. Controls are straightforward — a large volume knob and a smooth tuning wheel — and the backlit LCD shows time and tuned frequency at a glance. Power flexibility (wall adapter or four AA cells) makes it useful indoors, in the yard, or during outages.

Clear Sound, Solid Value
Clear audio and stable reception. Doesn’t wander into fuzzy static like cheaper models. Good value overall.

Surprisingly Big Sound
Small footprint but loud and clear. Sits nicely on my nightstand and, with earbuds, does a great job masking my partner’s snoring. Very happy with it.

Mostly Good, Some Power Oddities
After a year of travel it sometimes cuts power or restarts on its own. It also uses batteries fairly often and may forget the time and stations.

No-Frills Performer
A basic radio that does the job. Better reception and sound than my older unit. No station presets, but the large display is handy.
