One-Way Reflective Window Privacy Film — 17.5 x 78.7 in Sun & UV Guard
Product description
This reflective one-way window film arrives as a 17.5" x 78.7" roll of mirrored privacy film designed for daytime use. The sheet has a reflective exterior finish that makes the window appear like a mirror from the brighter side, while the inner side still allows views out. Materials are a thin, reflective film layer with a clear protective backing that must be removed prior to installation. Note the mirror effect fades when indoor lighting exceeds outdoor light, so it affords daytime privacy only.
Each roll ships with a small installation kit tucked inside its paper tube: a refillable spray bottle for soapy water, a squeegee to smooth bubbles, a utility/razor knife for trimming, and a measuring tape. These basic tools are meant to help you cut, wet-apply, and finish the edges without searching for extras. The protective paper tube can be tapped to release the kit.
Performance specs emphasize sun protection and glare reduction. The film is designed to block the majority of harmful UV radiation (claimed near 97%) and a large portion of infrared (about 85%), helping to slow fading of fabrics and lower solar heat gain. It still transmits soft diffuse light so rooms don’t go completely dark while screens of intense glare or direct sun are minimized.
Because the film reflects and rejects heat, it can contribute to a cooler interior in hot months and modest energy savings by lowering air-conditioning load. It is sold as a surface-applied tint for single-pane windows, doors, and similar glazing where a mirrored daytime look and reduced solar gain are desired.
The product uses a static-cling application—no adhesive glue—so you must clean the glass thoroughly, spray plenty of water onto both the glass and film adhesive side, and then squeegee out excess liquid to settle the film. It peels off without leaving residue, but it is not recommended for dual-pane or insulated glass units.
Pros
- Strong daytime mirror privacy
- High UV and infrared rejection
- Comes with basic installation tools
Cons
- No privacy when interior is lit at night
- Unsuitable for dual-pane/insulated glass
- Wet application requires care to avoid bubbles
VerdictA solid daytime privacy solution that reflects outside light while still admitting soft daylight indoors. The film claims to block up to 97% of UV and around 85% of infrared to protect furnishings and reduce interior heat. It adheres by static cling and arrives with a basic installation kit so most DIYers can fit it quickly. Keep in mind the mirrored effect reverses when interior lighting is stron

Perfect for third-shift sleep
Simple to apply and really helps me sleep during the day. The backing can be stubborn to peel off at times, but the included tools were useful. Would buy again.

Nice fit and quality
Gives privacy while still allowing light. Color looks good and the size fit my door window well. Feels like decent quality; would repurchase if needed.

Quick install and well-equipped
Clear instructions and all tools included made a long sidelight easy to finish in about 30 minutes. Film lets light through while blocking views. Suggest adding a rigid cutting guide to make straighter edge cuts.

Effective at reducing light
It does a good job cutting daylight and increasing privacy. Install was straightforward after cleaning the glass. I like that it can be removed later and that the size was accurate and easy to trim.

Complete blackout during the day
This tint blocks sunlight completely and makes my room very dark midday. Installation was quick: cut to size, spray, and smooth. It stays put and gives full privacy—great for people who must sleep in daylight.

Works well but roll was short
Film performed as advertised and was easy to apply, but the roll I received was shorter than the listed length, so I couldn't finish all my windows. I ordered another to complete the job.

Beautiful pattern, minor creasing
Lovely stained-glass effect and the floral colors pop at certain angles. The film had a couple of creases that are hardly noticeable from a distance and still provides good opacity.

Best I've used — the tools matter
I tested three brands and picked this roll because it included the installation kit. The film felt thicker and was simpler to handle than the others, the reflective finish seemed stronger, and it smoothed out well once the protective sheet was removed. Be aware that at night, with lights on inside, the privacy reverses.

Very opaque and van-friendly
Bought for my van side windows and it works well. Tools included were helpful. Separating the black film from the clear backing takes patience but is doable.

UV test failed; missing scraper
I checked with a UV lamp and it didn't meet my expectations. I couldn't test IR. The look is nice, but there was no scraper included and I think there are better-value films available.

Privacy achieved after teamwork
We installed it together and the result was worth it—shapes are visible but nothing detailed. Applied with a light water spray and trimmed neatly with an X-Acto. The morning sun through the film creates a nice effect on the walls.

Covers and decorates
I thought the pattern might be too busy, but it looks elegant and refined. I applied it with water alone and it turned out great.
