EZ Snap No-Drill Skylight Shade Kit — Trim-to-Fit Exterior Mesh
Product description
BLOCK HEAT, KEEP THE VIEW: This exterior black mesh sun screen is engineered to block as much as 90% of UV rays and a large portion of solar heat, helping interior spaces feel as much as 15°F cooler while still allowing you to see the sky. It's intended for use as a skylight shade on ceilings or as a cover for skylights, rooflights, or window openings where heat and glare are an issue.
PROFESSIONAL LOOK, DIY PRICE: The kit is designed for homeowner installation so you can avoid hiring a contractor or modifying the roof with screws. The no-drill approach attaches the mesh without penetrating the skylight frame or roof surface, offering a clean, reversible solution that preserves your existing hardware and roof integrity.
NO HOLES, NO LEAKS: To avoid adding leak points, the system uses patented EZ Snap fasteners that rely on 3M adhesive studs paired with snap buttons to secure the mesh. The snaps hold the shade taut against the opening and the removable design lets you take the cover off for cleaning or seasonal storage without disturbing the skylight seal.
BUILT TO LAST: The trim-to-fit mesh is manufactured to resist fraying at cut edges and to withstand intense sunlight and long-term UV exposure. Components are backed by a limited lifetime warranty and produced in facilities in the USA and Canada, emphasizing durability and local manufacturing provenance.
ONE ROLL, MANY SKYLIGHTS: The kit provides a single 3 ft × 6 ft roll of black shade mesh plus (25) black EZ Snap fasteners, (1) primer pen to prepare adhesive surfaces, and (1) removal tool to pry off snaps when needed. Because the mesh is supplied on a roll, you can cut custom pieces for multiple skylights, though you will need to measure and trim each piece to fit.
Pros
- Blocks up to 90% of UV and solar heat while retaining the view
- No-drill adhesive snap system preserves skylight seals and is removable
- Durable, non-fray mesh with limited lifetime warranty; made in USA/Canada
Cons
- Requires measuring and cutting to fit each skylight
- Extra fasteners may be needed for frequent removal
- Adhesive snaps can be stressed by repeated removals
VerdictA cost-effective DIY skylight cover that reduces heat and sun exposure without drilling. The adhesive EZ Snap system keeps the roof seal intact and the non-fray mesh stands up to UV. Best for homeowners willing to measure and trim the mesh; you may need extra fasteners for repeated removals.

Return process was expensive
I was unhappy that returning it to the seller was costly and inconvenient. The cover didn’t cut down heat enough for our skylights.

Effective but extra parts pricey
Blocks the sun effectively, but the kit isn’t inexpensive and the number of fasteners provided felt low. Replacement fasteners are available, but they cost more than expected.

Does the job
Excellent value. Straightforward to fit and install, and they perform as advertised. My porch is much more comfortable on sunny days — we actually use it now.

Solid screen
Very pleased — the intense sun glare from the skylight is gone but the space still gets light. Overall satisfied with the performance.

Good performance but fasteners concern me
They worked fine at first, but I worry the adhesive fasteners won’t last more than a few years. A couple failed after the first removal. Extras are included, but long-term availability is a worry.

Simple fit, cooler loft
Installation was easy and the loft stayed noticeably cooler afterward. It lets in daylight while reducing heat — not totally opaque, but that’s a benefit.

Works very well
We love these. Our handyman put them up, but they seemed straightforward to attach and they reduce glare and heat effectively.

Great for a big kitchen skylight
Covers my large kitchen skylight well while still letting in the sky. Heat reduction is noticeable, which matters in hot Southern California. Easy install; customer service was a bit slow but resolved a missing item.
