Wallaby 15 mil Gusseted MRE Mylar Bags with Oxygen Absorbers (10-Pack)
Product description
Assembled kit: Ten gusseted mylar pouches and matching oxygen absorbers are included so you can pack individual meal portions.
Construction and materials: Each pouch is 15 mil thick with an inner aluminum layer for superior barrier protection against moisture and light. The outer faces are food-grade, BPA-free mylar and the top has a zipper for easy access plus extra heat-sealable material above the zip to allow a permanent seal when desired.
Dimensions and capacity: The gusseted bottom lets the pouch stand upright and provides extra volume — typically sized to hold about one to two meal servings or roughly two cups of dehydrated product (measurements and capacity vary by ingredient and packing method). The design is suited to dry mixes, pasta, instant rice, oatmeal, dried fruit, and freeze-dried or dehydrated meal components.
How to use: Fill with your chosen dry ingredients, add an oxygen absorber to reduce free oxygen in the headspace, press the zipper closed for short-term reuse, or heat-seal above the zip for long-term protection. The pouches safely tolerate boiling water — open, pour in hot water to cook or rehydrate, then close and wait the recommended time. They work well with harvest-style freeze-dried or dehydrated meals and with DIY mixes so you control ingredients and flavors.
Performance notes: The thick mylar and internal aluminum layer improve puncture resistance and block air and moisture. Oxygen absorbers remove oxygen, not total air volume, so expect only the oxygen portion (about 21% of air) to be absorbed; the remaining gases will still occupy the bag. For best results, keep sealed pouches in a cool, dark environment and label them clearly before shelving or packing.
Pros
- Thick 15 mil construction with aluminum barrier
- Boil-safe for in-bag rehydration
- Zipper plus heat-seal area for flexible use
Cons
- Oxygen absorbers remove oxygen only, not all air
- Built-in zipper can prevent vacuum sealing by some machines
- Some pouches may show surface impressions
VerdictThese heavy-duty gusseted mylar sacks give you a flexible, economical way to assemble and preserve meals. They come thick enough for extended shelf life, include oxygen absorbers for improved oxygen control, and tolerate boiling water so you can pour in hot liquid to reconstitute meals directly in the bag. The zip closure allows reuse for short-term use while heat-sealing above the zipper secures

Made for trail meals
This is my second or third set of these pouches. I halve my dehydrated meals and these make packing and carrying them effortless. Durable and convenient—I’ll keep repurchasing them.

Prepper and Camper approved
I used the absorbers and sealed the tops with a flat iron and feel confident about the meals I packed for long-term keeping. Each pouch comfortably serves one or two portions—add about 1½ cups boiling water, seal, and wait 5–12 minutes. I mixed powdered soy and tomato with pantry spices for balanced flavors and stored the pouches in cool, dark boxes around 40–70°F. No detectable odor after sealing and the soup and chili samples rehydrated nicely.

Sturdy mylar pouches
These are quality mylar bags with a good feel. Sized for a small individual serving and heavy enough for shelf life.

Camping breakfasts all set
This kit supplied 30 labeled pouches and everything felt heavy-duty. Each holds about two cups of freeze-dried scrambled eggs (roughly eight cooked eggs). A few pouches had surface impressions; otherwise five stars.

Ideal for freeze-dried meal prep
Thick 15 mil material is excellent for long-term preservation. Fits my chamber vacuum sealer and the gusseted base makes rehydration easy while eating straight from the bag.

Excellent for bulk rebagging
I repackaged extras from #10 cans into these pouches for quick access. The mylar is thick and durable for shelving or travel, the wide opening makes filling easy, and the zipper seals well. I used a clothes iron to make permanent seals when I needed long-term protection.

A dehydrating game-changer
Transforms homemade dehydrated meals into tidy, durable pouches. Plenty of room—one pouch handled two full dinner servings—and heat-sealing with an iron is straightforward.

Good for backpack camping
They look and feel robust; I haven’t field-tested them yet. Compared to reusable silicone bags, these are larger and thicker. My vacuum sealers can heat-seal them but cannot vacuum out air due to the zipper; exterior dimensions measured about 21.5cm x 13cm x 8cm.

Titling this was tougher than packing them
These are a great budget-friendly alternative to prepackaged freeze-dried meals. Highlights: dishwasher-safe for cleanup, rounded corner seals prevent trapped food, gusseted bottom lets pouches stand while you add boiling water, included labels are reusable (I use pencil), you can reseal with the zip or heat-seal for long-term storage, and the wide orientation makes accessing contents easier than narrow upright bricks.
