Mini Magnetic Travel Chess Set — 5.11-inch Folding X-Small Board
Product description
True pocket portability — This mini travel chess set measures 5.11 inches across and is designed to be carried everywhere. The folded board fits into a purse, jacket pocket, glove box, or backpack side pocket so you can play during waits, trips, or breaks.
Magnetic pieces for stable play — The set comes with a full complement of magnetic chess pieces that stick to the board so moves stay put even on bumpy planes, trains, or car rides. Pieces nest inside the folded board for tidy storage.
Compact, ready-to-play design — The board folds closed and holds the pieces inside, making setup and pack-up quick and mess-free. It’s intended for casual matches, move practice, and introducing new players to the game without hauling a standard set.
Good for learners and travelers — Lightweight and simple, this X-small size is a great pick for kids, beginners, and anyone who wants a travel-first chess option. If you want a larger portable board, larger sizes such as 7.5" or 9.7" are available.
Pros
- Extremely pocketable and easy to carry
- Magnetic pieces keep positions secure
- Pieces store inside the folding board
Cons
- Very small playing surface for advanced play
- Tiny pieces can be easy to misplace
- Closure may not be fully secure in some units
VerdictAn incredibly portable chess option for convenience-minded players. The tiny folding board and magnetic pieces make it ideal for travel, teaching beginners, or keeping kids entertained. It’s not a full-size set, but it delivers real playable games without bulk.

Compact, stays in place upside down
Black-and-white board with silver and gold magnetic pieces. They hold position even when turned over. Warranty looks solid though I haven’t needed it.

Perfect travel companion for dad
Bought it for my father who travels often. Small enough for a pocket yet the pieces feel solid and well-made. Works great on trips.

Great for travel
Folds up very small and the pieces are easy to grab. Magnets hold well during play and transit.

Pocketable and durable for kids
Got this for my eight-year-old. Fits in a pocket and the magnet keeps pieces together. Sturdy enough to survive kid use.

Fits in a palm or pocket
Tiny enough to carry everywhere — slips into my pocket or purse. Colors pop and the magnets keep pieces from sliding. Great for pulling out a quick game whenever you’re bored. Highly recommended for portability.

Nice x-small set, one design gripe
Compact and handy, with strong magnets and tidy internal storage. Pieces fit well when packed. My only nitpick is the pieces seem a bit tall for this tiny board — slightly shorter pieces would look more proportional.

Cute and handy, but latch is weak
Fun and portable, but the closure doesn’t stay shut reliably. Pieces spilled into my bag and I worry about losing one because they’re so small.
