Shashibo DODECA Magnetic Shape‑Shifting Puzzle Cube
Product description
What you get: a single Shashibo DODECA magnetic puzzle cube featuring vinyl-faced panels with decorative stickers and 36 ultra-strong internal magnets. The unit ships folded as a compact cube and can be manipulated into more than 100 distinct shapes and sculptures.
Materials & construction: Each face is covered with vinyl panels and adhered artwork, framed around a sturdy internal plastic core with 36 embedded magnets engineered for repeated attachment and detachment. The magnets are arranged to allow secure connections between faces and compatibility with other Shashibo pieces for creating larger constructions.
Size & handling: Folded, the cube is compact and pocketable (roughly a few inches per side when closed), making it suitable for desks, backpacks, or classrooms. Operation is silent to mostly quiet — the panels click and shift as you transform it — and the motion is intended to be calming and tactile.
How it’s used: Twist, fold, and snap faces together to build geometric forms, shapes that resemble vehicles or creatures, or abstract sculptures. It’s promoted as a focus aid and hands-on activity for both children and adults — useful as a desk fidget, classroom tool for quiet engagement, or a screen-free pastime that builds spatial reasoning and procedural memory.
Compatibility & variety: Shashibo units are sold in a variety of colors, patterns, and licensed designs; all models are compatible and can connect with one another through the magnet system. Design and engineering work was carried out across teams in the USA and Germany, emphasizing play value and longevity.
Pros
- Transforms into 100+ distinct shapes
- Strong magnets allow linking with other units
- Tactile, quiet operation good for focus
Cons
- Vinyl panels or stickers may peel with heavy use
- Smaller than some expect when folded
- Can be tricky to refold into the original cube
VerdictA satisfying, well-built magnetic fidget that encourages creativity and calm. It’s durable and versatile, offering countless transformations and the chance to link multiple units together, but the vinyl/sticker faces can wear with heavy daily use and it may take practice to refold back into the compact cube.

Fantastic toy and quick arrival
Arrived very quickly. The toy itself is fantastic and lived up to expectations.

Great for kids and adults
I unboxed this while my 5-year-old was upset — I started folding it and she calmed down and asked to try it. She stuck with a spaceship shape for ages. The motion is smooth and the clicks are pleasant. It feels solid, the stickers have held up so far, and it tolerates drops. My 3-year-old struggles with it and tried to bend stickers the wrong way a few times but nothing broke. I bought the 'Fire Goddess' colorway and it’s very pretty.

Helped with anxiety but didn’t last
I started using one for anxiety and it was calming during a panic. I was thrilled when one arrived, but after about nine months my brother damaged the vinyl while I napped and it tore. It was very helpful while it lasted.

Fun and sturdy
Entertaining, slightly challenging, and relaxing to manipulate. The build feels strong. My 4-year-old grandson enjoys it as much as I do.

Durable and captivating for a 7‑year‑old
Bought this for my 7-year-old son and it’s been a hit. He experiments with many shapes and stays engaged for long periods. It’s held up to daily play better than I expected.

Stickers can peel
This is our third unit because my son uses them daily. He loves making the different shapes, but the sticker panels have started lifting. They’re not cheap, so I wish the adhesive lasted longer. Still worth it for his daily use, especially since he’s on the spectrum and uses it a lot.

Fun and compact (in Spanish)
Es entretenido, por ahora parece resistente y ocupa poco espacio. La única duda es si relaja o a veces genera más estrés, lo veremos con el tiempo.

Genuine product, slow delivery
This is an original Shashibo and the quality is good. It took a long time to arrive because it was shipped internationally.

Frustrating to refold
I bought this as a gift and was surprised at how small it was—came in a tiny roughly 2.5 x 2.5 inch box. I tested it to check quality and then couldn’t get it back into the compact cube. After many attempts I grew more and more annoyed and even thought about taking it apart. It’s excellent entertainment if you enjoy fiddling, but refolding it can be maddening.
