Heiman Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm — Wi‑Fi Battery CO Detector
Product description
Certifications and safety: This CO alarm carries ETL Listing, meets UL2034 (the U.S. carbon monoxide alarm standard), and holds FCC approval, meeting common U.S. safety and electronic compliance requirements.
What’s in the package: The box contains the carbon monoxide alarm, a quick network guide to help with Wi‑Fi setup, basic mounting hardware, and a user manual. A clear network guide is included to walk you through app pairing steps.
Sensing technology: Inside the unit is a FIGARO TGS5141 electrochemical sensor made in Japan. Unlike lower-cost semiconductor sensors, the TGS5141 uses a solid‑state electrolyte design that maintains long‑term stability and provides a linear response across 0–5000 ppm. That stability helps reduce false alarms caused by humidity or rapid temperature changes and by nearby gas appliances.
Power and lifetime: The detector is battery powered and designed to minimize maintenance — the sensor is rated for up to 10 years of service life and the supplied battery can last up to about five years under normal conditions. A low‑battery notification warns you when it’s time to replace the power source or the alarm.
Connectivity and alerts: The alarm connects to 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi and works with Tuya/Smart Life ecosystems to send real‑time push notifications to your phone. Follow the included network guide to link the device to the app; once paired you’ll receive remote alerts and basic self‑diagnostic information.
Installation and portability: The compact housing can be mounted on a wall or set on a tabletop for quick placement. It’s small and portable enough to take when traveling and is suitable for bedrooms, kitchens, garages, attics, hotels, RVs, and tents. A test button lets you verify the alarm and electronics at any time, and the audible alert is loud enough for household use.
Support and warranty: The product includes a two‑year limited warranty and access to lifetime technical support. If you need help with Wi‑Fi setup, app pairing, or maintenance questions, support is available through the seller/manufacturer support channels; they commit to assisting customers promptly.
Pros
- FIGARO TGS5141 electrochemical sensor for stable, accurate readings
- Remote push alerts via Tuya/Smart Life over 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi
- Long service life: sensor up to 10 years, battery up to 5 years
Cons
- Manufacturer app can be unreliable; Tuya/Smart Life often required
- Some users report integration problems with certain smart hubs
- May require attention to manufacturing date for full 10‑year use
VerdictThis Heiman CO alarm combines reliable sensing hardware with modern remote notification via Tuya/Smart Life-compatible apps. The FIGARO TGS5141 electrochemical sensor offers stable, linear CO readings (0–5000 ppm) and is less prone to false triggers than cheap semiconductor sensors. On the plus side: clear real-time phone alerts over 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi, a five-year battery life, and an expected 10-year

Works well
Handy, compact unit — performs as expected.

Not compatible with SmartThings
Doesn’t work directly with SmartThings — you must route through another hub. Misleading compatibility claims and disappointing quality.

Garaged car test — mixed results
Paired easily with SmartLife. I ran a car in a closed garage and both units showed rising CO up to ~140 ppm, then declined once ventilated. They didn’t seem to alarm loudly during that test; I’m continuing to evaluate.

Unclear functionality due to software
Hard to verify proper operation — app offers very limited configuration and there’s no clear feedback beyond LEDs. Could be fine, but it’s opaque.

Failed to detect CO in my test
Do not rely on these — mine read 0 ppm during a side‑by‑side check while a known working monitor showed 50 ppm.

As expected
Straightforward setup and no issues so far.

Buena calidad y fácil de configurar
Se nota buena calidad. Pulsé el reset unos segundos, la app la detectó y recibí notificaciones al instante. Muy recomendable.

Solid hardware but app problems
The detectors themselves appear reliable, but the Heiman Home app wouldn’t pair on iOS or Android. I used the Tuya/Smart Life app instead; pairing was painless and they integrate with Home Assistant. Note: units I received were manufactured two years ago, so the 10‑year life ends sooner than a brand‑new unit.

Easy install, reassuring alerts
Simple to set up and connect. I get notifications while away, which gives me peace of mind.
