Waterdrop G2 Tankless Reverse Osmosis System — 400 GPD RO
Product description
Certified for lead-free materials under NSF/ANSI 372, the G2 reverse osmosis unit is built to provide high-capacity filtration while keeping harmful materials out of contact with potable water. The system uses a multi-stage composite filtration arrangement to improve contaminant removal and overall water quality.
The package ships with two replacement filter cartridges included; replacement elements are sold separately under the model codes G2CF and G2MRO. The G2 is rated at up to 400 gallons per day and operates with a low 1:1 pure-to-drain ratio, which reduces wasted water compared with conventional RO setups.
This is a tankless design that supplies filtered water on demand, freeing up more than 70% of the under-sink space that a conventional storage tank would occupy. Because the unit contains an integrated booster pump and electronics, it requires a nearby electrical outlet to operate and a hole drilled for the drain connection.
The internal layout integrates electrical and water paths to minimize potential leak points, and the housing is sealed to dampen operational noise. Cartridge changes are made simple by a twist-and-pull mechanism that allows fast replacement in seconds. Typical installation can be completed in under 30 minutes if you have the necessary tools and make a drain hole.
Pros
- High flow rate and low 1:1 waste ratio
- Tankless, space-saving under-sink footprint
- Quick twist-and-pull filter changes
Cons
- Requires under-sink power and a drilled drain
- Initial dispense has a short delay while pump primes
- Replacement cartridges are model-specific
VerdictA compact, tankless RO that delivers fast, on-demand filtered water with a low 1:1 drain ratio and NSF/ANSI 372 lead-free components. Installation is straightforward for most DIYers but needs under-sink power and a drilled drain; filter swaps are quick thanks to a twist-and-pull design. Expect quieter operation and significant under-sink space savings compared with traditional tank systems.

Perfect compact RO for our RV trips
This small RO with an internal pump was a major upgrade for our RV. It provided great drinking water on a five-month trip and handled questionable source water well. Route the waste back to the fresh tank (not gray water) to avoid wasting too much. We processed a few hundred gallons and the unit held up to the bumps and movement. Very satisfied and would buy again.

Simple install and much less filter maintenance
Replaced an old unit and appreciated that only two cartridges need swapping rather than seven. Retrofitting into prior plumbing was the only challenge, especially because a shutoff was placed after the connection. The 1:1 drain ratio is a huge plus compared to my old 1:4 system. Dispensing is a bit slower but the water savings make that acceptable. Great tasting water and it frees up lots of under-sink space.

Highly recommended for improving tap water
This unit solved my local water issues. I installed it myself since I already had a faucet hole; instructions were clear and the unit fits neatly under the sink. I had to use an extension cord temporarily because I hadn’t planned for an outlet beneath the sink. Build quality is solid and I’ve had no leaks. It fills a glass quickly and uses very little waste water. I can take it with me if I move — overall I’m pleased with the taste and performance and would recommend it.

Installation and filter changes are a breeze
I’ve replaced several multistage systems and this one stands out for simplicity. Installation is easier, it takes up much less room without a storage tank, and filter changes are as simple as twisting out the old cartridge and snapping the new one in. Indicator lights help you know when to replace filters. Family agrees the water tastes better than our previous system.

Impressive waste ratio and quiet pump
We’re happy with the 400 GPD G2 unit. Installation took longer due to solid copper lines and routing power, and I added a 3-gallon tank to feed the fridge ice maker. A power on/off switch would be handy. In a blind coffee taste test between well water and RO water we couldn’t tell much difference, but the unit’s lower-than-1:1 waste impressed me. The pump noise is mild and not bothersome.

Great water, moderate difficulty to install
Installation was a bit tricky and I purchased an extra part to avoid cutting into pipes, but I managed it solo in about two hours. It’s an intermediate-level job if your plumbing is tight. The RO water tastes far better than our fridge filter and is very convenient, though I had to give up the soap dispenser to make space. The pump and drain hook-up require some planning.

Solid performance and useful TDS verification
Using it for six months with no leaks; the install was easy thanks to a pre-drilled hole in my countertop. I used a TDS meter and noticed the first few seconds of flow read higher since water sitting in the unit exits first; after 10–15 seconds the reading drops to expected levels. That means a small amount of water is wasted on short dispenses, but the overall quality is excellent.

Loud periodic noise after a while
Started out fine and produced clean water, but now it makes a loud rumbling noise every couple of minutes as if forcing flow. I’ve been unable to find direct contact info for company support and am frustrated.

Update: filter replacement led to debris concerns
After two years I replaced the MRO filter and soon after noticed black particles from the dedicated faucet. I developed stomach cramps that began around the time of the replacement, so I contacted the maker and supplied photos and installation details. Installation had been done by a licensed plumber using all supplied parts. The issue happened twice after the new cartridge was installed; I arranged independent water testing and sought further support from the company.

Compact, dependable, and still performing after two years
Two years in and it’s been leak-free and reliable. After swapping the membrane and filter, flow improved about 20%, so maintenance helped restore speed. Setup was easy once the specific hookups (faucet and ice maker) were adapted. The system indicates when flushing is complete, which removes guesswork. Dispensing pauses briefly as the pump primes, so filling takes a moment, but overall performance and taste have been consistently good.

Compact and efficient
Well-built components and clear instructions with helpful videos online. It can be a bit noisy when the pump runs, so consider placing it inside a cabinet with a door. I bought it hoping the importer will have replacement parts soon. Overall it’s compact, efficient, and does a good job.

Excellent water taste and easy setup
Very easy to install in about 40 minutes; the box included the parts needed. Initially the water had a metallic note but it cleared after a couple of days and now tastes pure and light, similar to mountain spring water. I’d like to add the company’s mineral filter when it becomes available to enhance flavor even more.

Worth the investment — compact and effective
After researching options, this unit fit our limited under-sink space and delivered on quality. No tank saves space, installation was straightforward with available online guidance, and the faucet looks and feels nicer than expected. Water quality improved noticeably — an unpleasant odor disappeared and the water tastes crisp. Also replaced a bulky pitcher filter in the fridge with this system.
