Heavy-Duty Patio Umbrella Base with Locking Wheels — 1100 lb Capacity
Product description
High Capacity Fill Chamber: This heavy-duty steel base is designed to be filled with pebbles, river rock, pavers, bricks or concrete to add ballast. When completely loaded it can support a maximum weight of roughly 1100 lbs (filler materials not included).
Mobility and Locking Casters: Four flexible wheels are attached to the base so you can roll the unit into place. Each caster has a brake device so the base can be locked securely once positioned.
Detachable, Stackable Construction: The base ships in separable sections that bolt together for installation and can be stacked for compact storage when not in use. The modular design simplifies delivery and assembly.
Durable Finish and Materials: Fabricated from powder-coated steel to resist corrosion and extend service life. The finish helps protect the steel in outdoor conditions.
Compatibility & Use Notes: Sized to accommodate larger canopies, it’s suitable for the PURPLE LEAF 13' square umbrella and 11' x 15' rectangular oversize models. Note: many umbrellas come with a cross-base; that cross-piece is unnecessary if you use this weighted base for safe assembly.
Pros
- Very high maximum ballast capacity (up to 1100 lb)
- Locking casters make positioning simple when empty
- Powder-coated steel for improved corrosion resistance
Cons
- Very heavy and bulky to receive and fill
- Requires significant filler (time and cost) to reach full capacity
- Some small decorative stones may fall through the grate
VerdictA very solid option for large cantilever or oversized umbrellas. The steel construction and lockable wheels make it easy to position, while the deep fill box accepts stones, pavers or concrete to reach a reported 1100 lb maximum. It’s bulky when delivered and requires help to move and fill, but once loaded it offers excellent stability in typical conditions.

Started rusting and not foolproof
Bought this base for a heavy umbrella but it has shown rust and I don’t trust the 1100 lb claim. The stand has tipped a few times with strong gusts.

Well engineered but needs lots of ballast
The box-like design holds filler well; we used concrete and river rock but didn’t reach the manufacturer’s minimum weight recommendation. With the umbrella closed it stood up to 27 mph gusts. Would like clearer guidance on recommended weight versus wind speed; still a great match for our 13' umbrella.

Solid, easy build, nice customization options
Heavy but straightforward to put together — get help lifting. Seems built to last. I like that you can create a planter or succulent bed in the fill area to make it decorative rather than just a weight.

Extremely sturdy but plan your filler
This stand feels like it will hold through severe storms. If you plan to use decorative stones, consider laying cheaper pavers or blocks first to save money — they add a lot of weight for less cost. I had to buy more stone than expected to cover the pavers. Waiting to set the umbrella until winds ease, will add photos later.

Best design for windy areas
After losing umbrellas with other bases, this one finally solved the issue. It’s very large — check dimensions — and accepts a minimum load up to about 610 lb and a max near 1100 lb. I used many bags of large river rock, painted them black for a finished look. The built-in rollers are a welcome perk.

Sturdy and good looking when loaded
With stones added the umbrella stayed put even in strong gusts. The filled base looks attractive and drew compliments. It’s larger and heavier than photos suggested; I had to separate the main sections to carry them in. Make sure you have the floor space, but installation itself was simple.

Massive, rock-solid once filled
Ordered for a 13' canopy and was surprised by the shipping weight — nearly 120 lb of steel. Box is large (about 38" square) so get help moving it. Assembly was straightforward and once I loaded it with leftover pavers it became incredibly stable. Waiting on the umbrella delivery to fully test, but so far very impressed. Seller support was responsive and delivery was fast.

Solid, but mind the filler choice
I updated my thoughts after the product notes clarified the crossbar isn’t needed. It looks great with large river rocks — smaller stones can slip through the grate when you roll it. Chose this unit for the wheels so I can move it around the patio; assembly was simple once the diagrams made sense. The umbrella’s extra crossbars were unused and stored away.
