Digital TDS/EC Water Tester — Portable PPM Meter (0–9999 PPM)
Product description
Durable probe and reliable readout: This pen-style tester uses a titanium-alloy sensing probe designed for stable, long-lasting contact with water. It reports total dissolved solids and conductivity with an advertised accuracy of about ±3% across its range, so you can track changes in water quality over time.
Three measurements in one device: The meter displays TDS (ppm), electrical conductivity (EC) and water temperature on a single screen, making it useful for drinking water checks, reverse-osmosis systems, aquariums, hydroponic setups and general household testing. Measurement range extends up to 0–9999 ppm to cover very low to very high TDS levels.
Easy-to-read controls and display: A large backlit LCD provides clear readings in dim conditions. The instrument offers an auto-hold (lock) feature so you can remove it from the sample and still read the result. Operation is straightforward — power on, remove the protective cap, submerge the probe and wait for the stable reading.
What’s in the box and how to use it: The package includes the digital TDS/EC meter, a protective cap, at least one set of batteries (a spare set is commonly supplied), and a quick-start guide. To test, switch the unit on, dip the probe into the sample to the indicated immersion level, stir gently if needed and wait for the value to steady before using the hold feature.
Support and warranty: The product is backed by a multi-year warranty and a short-term satisfaction guarantee, providing coverage and an option for return if the unit is defective or unsatisfactory. Periodic calibration checks and fresh batteries will help maintain consistent performance.
Pros
- Combined TDS/EC/temperature readings
- Sturdy titanium-alloy probe for stable sensing
- Backlit display with hold function for easy reading
Cons
- Only indicates conductivity-based solids, not specific contaminants
- Some sample-to-sample variation reported
- Needs occasional calibration and battery replacement
VerdictA handy, affordable handheld meter for routine checks of water quality and filter performance. It delivers quick TDS/EC/temperature readings with a durable titanium probe and a clear backlit display. Bear in mind it measures conductivity-related solids, not specific contaminants, and repeated samples can sometimes vary. Good for tap, bottled, RO and aquarium monitoring; budget-conscious users will

Slight repeatability issues
Some small inconsistencies when testing the same sample more than once, but overall it performs well.

Accurate and good value
Gives a clear digital readout of water hardness/TDS. Solid tool for the price.

Works as expected
Functioned exactly as I thought and seems reasonably accurate so far.

Readings can jump
Results sometimes varied by hundreds of ppm on the same sample, which makes filter-replacement timing uncertain. For my filter-monitoring needs the inconsistency is a drawback.

Helps detect taste differences
I test restaurant water since local tap tastes bad. Tried Fiji, tap and other sources—this meter handled them all and showed the differences I could taste.

Measures conductivity, not purity
This reads electrical conductivity rather than identifying contaminants. Low EC usually means cleaner water — my bottled samples read near 1 ppm while cold tap was 100–120 and hot tap higher. The unit is simple to operate, easy to clean and lasts as long as the batteries.

Perfect for a first meter
I’d never owned a tester and this one met my needs. It only reports total dissolved solids, not specific chemicals, but the numbers matched what I anticipated across tap, filtered and bottled waters. Happy with it as an entry-level checker.

Fault replaced; clear limitations
Manufacturer replaced a defective unit and issued a refund offer, so the replacement works fine. I docked a star for the product description not clarifying that TDS totals don’t specify which minerals are present—useful but limited.
