Aurora 12-Sheet Crosscut Shredder with 5.2‑Gallon Wastebasket
Product description
The Aurora AU1220XA is a crosscut shredder designed for home and small-office tasks. It takes up to 12 sheets of standard paper at once and cuts documents and credit cards into small particles roughly 3/16 by 1-3/32 inches, meeting security level P-4. The feed opening measures 8.7 inches across to accept typical letter-size sheets, and the cutter set is housed in a sturdy molded body with hardened cutting elements to slice paper and thin plastics.
Built for safe everyday use, the unit includes overload and thermal protection and supports a nonstop continuous run of about three minutes before requiring a cool-down. The control panel offers four positions—auto, off, reverse, and forward—for simple operation and jam clearing. Waste collects in a removable 5.2‑gallon bin that features an integrated handle for carrying and LED indicators that show standby and overheat conditions. Product dimensions: 13.31" W x 8.46" L x 15.87" H.

Will pause for cooldown
Performs as expected, but do not run it continuously past the recommended time or it will overheat and stop until it cools down.

Not compatible with non-US voltage
This unit is configured for 120VAC with a US plug, so it won’t work on different voltage systems without a proper converter and plug change. Check local electrical requirements before purchasing.

Quiet and dependable replacement
I tried several brands before and they didn’t last. An earlier Aurora lasted years, so I bought this updated model. It performs well, runs quieter than my previous machine, and the fixed handle makes removing the unit from the bin much easier. Feeding can be a bit firmer, which seems like a safety improvement. Very pleased and highly recommended.

Lightweight, easy setup, shreds reliably
Arrived well protected and was simple to set up — running in under three minutes from the box. It’s fairly light for moving around, though I’d prefer larger grips on the bin. Quiet in operation and handles several sheets easily. Use the auto mode to avoid exceeding the 3-minute run time. I recommend keeping your purchase receipt with the unit for warranty purposes.

Heavy-duty shredding, but bulky
This model is louder and heavier than smaller units, which is understandable given the stronger cutters. It chews through large amounts of paper; I cleared several garbage bags worth in a couple days. The smaller bin means frequent emptying and lifting the unit is a workout.

Perfect for daily mail and small projects
Works very well for junk mail and occasional larger shredding jobs. I did push it too long once and it overheated until it cooled, otherwise no problems. Noise level is acceptable — I still heard the TV while running. The 5.2‑gal bin is small for big projects but fine for everyday use.
