Retevis RB48 Rugged Walkie Talkies — Heavy‑Duty Two‑Way Radios
Product description
MIL‑STD‑810H CERTIFIED: The RB48 has been evaluated to the MIL‑STD‑810H benchmark, a recognized protocol for assessing equipment durability in extreme environments. The radios have undergone a battery of 19 tests that include temperature shock, heavy rain exposure, salt fog, prolonged humidity, sand and dust ingress, sustained vibration, impact/shock events and immersion testing.
CONSTRUCTION & COMPONENTS: Rather than relying on a simple hard shell, the RB48 combines a rugged exterior housing with industrial‑grade internal components and a reinforced internal structure to protect sensitive parts from drops, vibration and extreme temperatures. The housing is designed to withstand environmental wear while protecting the radio’s electronics.
BATTERY & CHARGING: Each unit uses a 2000mAh rechargeable battery, delivering up to approximately 20 hours of runtime under typical use. Charging options include a dedicated charging base and USB‑C connection for direct charging without the dock, making recharging straightforward on the go.
FEATURES & USAGE: The radios offer a large front push‑to‑talk (PTT) button for easy use with gloves, vibration alerts to notify users of incoming transmissions, and NOAA weather alert capability to keep teams informed of conditions. Coverage claims correspond to large indoor and outdoor footprints—advertised as up to around 300,000 square feet or about 25 floors—making them suitable for construction sites, maritime activities, convoy travel and multi‑level facilities.
WARRANTY & RETURNS: The product is positioned for long service life and is supported by a five‑year warranty plus a 30‑day return policy for added confidence in sustained deployments.

Solid for boating with one caveat
I use these for a boating team. The multi‑slot charger holds alignment reliably; the dual charger needs fiddling. One unit survived an ocean drop and still functions, though the mic lost some clarity. Good outdoor range line‑of‑sight, easy to use and a tough clip.

Gave them to a shelter and they worked well
I donated these to a local animal shelter for dog‑walking. I haven't used them myself, but staff said they performed great and appreciated the gift.

Perfect for group road trips where cell fails
Used these on a multi‑car mountain drive with eight vehicles. Kept everyone connected where phones dropped out. Pairs well with Motorola Talkabout units; vibration alerts are handy with windows down and music playing. Highly recommend.

Clear sound and dependable rechargeable radios
Great purchase. No typical crackling; audio is loud and intelligible and the speaker is easy to understand.

Well designed for field use
I like having PTT on both the side and front. The belt clip is screwed on, not a flimsy snap. The internal battery handled three hours continuous use easily and still showed full. The charging dock is convenient and USB‑C charging without the base works well. Sound is clear and volume is adjusted with a rotary knob. Limited accessory options, though—no wired PTT mic/speaker available.
