  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (one standard can)
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
  • 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) butter, divided
  • 10 cups Rice Krispies cereal, divided
  • 8 cups mini marshmallows, divided
  • Additional 2 cups mini marshmallows to sprinkle over the caramel layer

  1. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with nonstick foil, extending the foil over the edges to create “handles” for easy removal. Lightly spray the foil with non-stick cooking spray for extra protection against sticking, as these bars are exceptionally gooey.

Gently press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan, using buttered hands or a piece of waxed paper to avoid sticking. Do not press too firmly.
  4. Carefully pour the prepared caramel mixture over the first Rice Krispie layer and spread it evenly to cover the entire surface. Immediately sprinkle the additional 2 cups of mini marshmallows evenly over the caramel layer. Place the pan in the freezer for 15 minutes to allow the caramel to firm up slightly.
  5. While the first layers are chilling, repeat step 3: In the same large bowl (no need to wash), melt the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter and 4 cups of mini marshmallows for about 1 minute until melted. Stir in the remaining 5 cups of Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated.
