Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly butter an 8 x 11-inch baking dish, ensuring all surfaces are covered.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Slowly whisk in the melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and freshly grated nutmeg into the egg mixture until fully incorporated.
  5. Tear about half of the hamburger buns (approximately 2 ½ buns if using larger ones) into 1-inch pieces. Add these pieces to the wet custard mixture and gently immerse them, allowing them to soak until thoroughly moist.
  6. Tear the remaining hamburger buns into 1-inch pieces and add them to the mixture. Gently fold them in, being careful not to mash the bread. The second batch of bread pieces should be moistened but still retain some of their original shape and texture, contributing to the pudding’s lightness.
