This sensational fudge gained fame during one of our regular “Two Sweetie Pies” recipe swaps, where Danielle and I dive into each other’s culinary creations. My turn to try a recipe from her blog yielded this absolute gem, proving that true deliciousness often lies in simplicity. Her Easy Fudge Recipe was an instant hit, quickly becoming a staple in my kitchen and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at every gathering.

Why This Milky Way Fudge is a Must-Try
In a world overflowing with complex recipes, this Milky Way Fudge stands out as a beacon of effortless luxury. It’s the kind of treat that doesn’t demand hours in the kitchen but delivers a taste experience that feels gourmet. Here’s why this three-ingredient wonder deserves a prime spot in your recipe collection:
- Unbelievably Simple & Quick: Imagine whipping up a batch of rich, creamy fudge in mere minutes. This microwave-friendly candy bar fudge transforms from ingredients to irresistible dessert with minimal fuss. It’s perfect for last-minute gatherings or when a sudden sweet craving strikes.
- Guaranteed Crowd-Pleaser: My personal experience speaks volumes! I first made this for a New Year’s Eve celebration, and by the end of the party, I was not only emailing the recipe to a friend but also subtly picking up hints from her husband about a potential second batch landing in his mailbox. It’s truly that addictive and universally loved.
- Decadent Flavor with Minimal Effort: The combination of quality chocolate chips, rich sweetened condensed milk, and the iconic caramel-nougat goodness of Milky Way candy bars creates a dreamy fudge texture and flavor profile that’s simply irresistible. It’s sweet, salty, chocolaty, and utterly satisfying.
- Versatile for Any Occasion: Whether you’re looking for a homemade gift, a potluck contribution, a festive holiday treat, or just a simple dessert to enjoy with your family, this fudge fits the bill perfectly. Its ease of preparation makes it ideal for beginners and seasoned bakers alike.
Mastering the Magic: Essential Ingredients
The beauty of this Milky Way Fudge lies in its simplicity, requiring just three key ingredients. While the list is short, selecting quality components can elevate your fudge from delicious to absolutely divine. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll need:
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: You’ll need one 14-ounce can. This ingredient is the unsung hero of many no-bake desserts, acting as both a sweetener and a binder, contributing to the fudge’s signature creamy, smooth texture. I highly recommend using a reputable brand like Eagle Brand for consistent results, as its quality impacts the final consistency and sweetness. Do not confuse this with evaporated milk; they are very different!
- Semisweet Chocolate Chips: A 12-ounce bag is perfect. Semisweet chocolate offers a balanced sweetness that pairs beautifully with the caramel notes of the Milky Way bars. I typically opt for Ghirardelli brand for its superior melting quality and rich flavor, but any good quality semisweet chocolate chip will work. While you *can* chop them for quicker melting, I’ve found it generally unnecessary with good quality chips and the microwave method. If you prefer a sweeter fudge, milk chocolate chips are an option, but be aware they tend to result in a slightly softer fudge. For a richer, less sweet profile, bittersweet chocolate chips can be used.
- Fun-sized Milky Way Candy Bars: You’ll need approximately 6 ounces, which usually translates to about 10 fun-sized bars, chopped and divided. These are the star that gives the fudge its distinctive name and flavor. The combination of chewy nougat, creamy caramel, and milk chocolate within the Milky Way bars melts into the fudge, creating pockets of gooey delight and adding a wonderful texture. Dividing them is key: some go into the melt, while others are stirred in afterwards, ensuring you get lovely chunks of candy bar throughout your fudge.

Effortless Creation: How to Make Milky Way Fudge
Get ready to be amazed by the sheer simplicity of this recipe. It’s so straightforward, you’ll barely need to glance at the instructions after the first time. Here’s how you bring this magical Milky Way Fudge to life:
- Prepare Your Pan: First things first, line an 8-inch square pan with non-stick foil or parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides. This step is crucial for effortlessly lifting the fudge out of the pan once it’s set, making slicing a breeze. Lightly grease the foil/parchment if it’s not explicitly non-stick.
- Combine & Melt: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the entire can of sweetened condensed milk, the chocolate chips, and about half of your chopped fun-sized Milky Way bars.
- Microwave with Care: Place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 1 minute. Remove and stir well with a spatula. Continue to microwave in additional bursts of 20-30 seconds, stirring thoroughly after each burst, until the mixture is smooth and melted. Be patient and avoid over-microwaving, as this can scorch the chocolate. A few small, unmelted pieces of chocolate are perfectly fine; they will melt into the residual heat as you stir. The mixture should be thick, glossy, and uniform.
- Add Remaining Candy: Once your fudge mixture is smooth, stir in the remaining chopped Milky Way chunks. This ensures that you have delightful pockets of chewy candy bar throughout the finished fudge, adding both texture and bursts of flavor.
- Spread & Chill: Scrape the entire fudge mixture into your prepared pan. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it evenly into the corners and smooth out the top. Now comes the hardest part: waiting! Let the fudge cool and set at room temperature for at least an hour, or transfer it to the refrigerator for faster setting.
Pinky swear, that’s all there is to it! The most challenging aspect truly is resisting the urge to dig in before it’s perfectly cooled and set.
Pro Tips for Milky Way Fudge Perfection
While this recipe is incredibly forgiving, a few expert tips can help you achieve truly sublime Milky Way Fudge every time. Elevate your fudge-making game with these simple suggestions:
- Choosing Your Chocolate: Your choice of chocolate chips significantly impacts the final fudge.
- Semisweet (recommended): Provides a balanced sweetness that allows the Milky Way flavor to shine.
- Milk Chocolate: Will yield a sweeter, often softer fudge. If using, you might want to chill it a bit longer to firm up.
- Bittersweet Chocolate: For those who prefer a richer, less sweet, and more intense chocolate experience.
- Candy Bar Creativity: Don’t limit yourself to just Milky Ways! This recipe is wonderfully adaptable to other candy bars with similar compositions.
- 3 Musketeers: Offers a lighter, fluffier nougat experience, great for a less dense fudge.
- Snickers: Introduces peanuts and a more pronounced caramel and nougat flavor, adding a delightful crunch.
- Other ideas: Consider chopping up Mars bars, caramel bits, or even adding a handful of chopped nuts for extra texture.
- The Power of Non-Stick Foil: Lining your pan with non-stick foil (or parchment paper) is a game-changer. It creates handles that allow you to easily lift the entire slab of fudge out of the pan once it’s set, transferring it seamlessly to a cutting board. This method ensures clean removal and helps maintain the fudge’s perfect shape.
- Optimal Slicing & Serving:
- For Clean Cuts: You’ll get the cleanest, sharpest squares if you cut this fudge when it is thoroughly chilled. Use a sharp knife and, for extra precision, run the knife under hot water and wipe it dry between cuts.
- For Creamy Texture: While cutting when chilled is best, bring the fudge back to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before serving. This allows it to soften slightly, resulting in a wonderfully creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
- Storage Solutions: Store your Milky Way Fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If refrigerated, allow it to come to room temperature before serving for the best texture. Fudge also freezes beautifully for up to 2-3 months; simply thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
